The goal of NBTAP is to attract and retain young New Brunswickers to skilled trades jobs here at home.

Employers identify skilled trades jobs they will need to fill in the future, and NBTAP helps them recruit interested bright young New Brunswickers. NBTAP Student Apprentices start pre-apprentice training before they graduate from high school; as early as Grade 10. Over two or three paid summer work terms, NBTAP Student Apprentices are coached and mentored by their skilled trades employer, learning practical trade and workplace skills. The NBTAP team works with employers to select the right student and plan and prepare for a safe and meaningful work experience.

NBTAP supports the connection between school and work. NBTAP Student Apprentices must continue to qualify for NBTAP by successfully meeting employer requirements each work term and maintaining good marks and school attendance until they graduate.
